Dr. Shirley Waterhouse is the Senior Director of Academic Excellence and Innovation in the Chief Academic Officer's organization of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). She is also President of eLearnGlobal, a consulting practice focusing on elearning initiatives for higher education and K-12.
ERAU is the world's leading aviation/aerospace institution of higher education. It is a multi-campus, worldwide institution with a residential campus in Prescott, Arizona; a residential campus in Daytona Beach, Florida; and over 130 teaching centers around the world. As the Senior Director of Academic Excellence and Innovation for ERAU, Dr. Waterhouse provides senior-level leadership to insure excellence in curriculum and instruction and the effective utilization of instructional technologies for ongoing innovation throughout the institution. In addition to her administrative duties, Dr. Waterhouse teaches a graduate course on eLearning pedagogy at ERAU.
While a fulltime professor in the ERAU Department of Computer Science, she won the outstanding teaching award, bestowed by graduating seniors, eleven out of fourteen semesters.
As an international consultant focusing on elearning pedagogy and elearning strategic planning, Dr. Waterhouse has helped hundreds of institutions attain their elearning goals. Also, as an eLearnGlobal workshop designer and facilitator, Dr. Waterhouse has worked with hundreds of educators throughout the world helping them innovate their instructional practices. She is also a frequent speaker at elearning conferences worldwide.
Dr. Waterhouse has authored six books, and the most recent is The Power of eLearning: The Essential Guide for Teaching in the Digital Age, an Allyn & Bacon (Pearson) publication.
